Lazy puppy… November 30, 2007

I’m convinced we got the laziest dog that ever lived.  Or else she’s sick.  I hope not.  I just carried her from the bedroom to the kitchen so that she would get up to go outside.

She slept almost all day, off and on.  More tomorrow.

My hubby is begging me to come to bed to watch a movie.  Yeah, right.  He’ll be sawing logs in about 15 minutes.

Home Sweet Home… November 29, 2007

Well, Rosie is home.   She tried to drive the car part of the way and sat in younger son’s car seat part of the way.  Otherwise, she curled up on the front seat and just relaxed.

As soon as she was home, hubby introduced himself and told her it was going to be o.k. and gave her a little kiss on the top of the head.  About 15 minutes later I caught him trying to coax her into the basement with him.

She has eaten, laid in her basket bed, eaten, gone for a walk, checked out her territory, laid in her basket bed, dozed and sniffed a cat.  Now she is asleep in her basket bed in our bedroom with hubby (hubby’s suggestion that we move it in there for the night–what a pushover).

We go pick up Rosie–name to be changed eventually (I hope!)–tomorrow.

I have a little wicker dog bed for her, courtesy of my niece.  She is getting micro-chipped today, courtesy of my sister.  I have the money to pay for her, courtesy of my husband.  She has a new tie-out, collar, dog food and treats, courtesy of me.

She will have many excited hugs, kisses and pats, courtesy of my boys…and me!

And….go face it honey, you too.

My little Rosie Posey… November 20, 2007

We went to see Rosie at the animal shelter last night.  I wanted to see how she would do with the boys up close and personal.  She really is a sweetie.  She loves the cats, she kept rolling over onto her back to have her belly rubbed, even though she was just spayed a few days ago, and she was even rolling over for the cats.

I have filled out the application so she can come home with us.  The boys were really sad that we had to leave her there.  They will run a background check on me so that they are sure I haven’t had any animal cruelty charges against me.  The guy there last night said that it may take a week or possibly two with the holiday and deer hunting before I am approved and can bring her home.

Oh, did I forget to mention that hubby has relented and actually seems kind of excited about it too, even though he keeps saying, “We haven’t made any definite decisions yet.”?Who does he think he’s kidding?  The boys love her, I love her, she seems to love us and will love our cats.  She’s ours.  I just have to get a couple of things ready for her before we can bring her home.

For one, that name has got to go.  I just don’t think I can have a dog with a name like Rosie.  She doesn’t seem to respond to it too well anyway.  It’s like it takes her a minute to realize you are talking to her and then she comes over all wiggly.

I think it should definitely end in an “e” sound though, so it’s not too dramatically different.  Any suggestions?

Awww…Aren’t they the cutest darn things you’ve ever seen? Next to my kids, of course. August 5, 2007

I found the cutest video I’ve seen in a long time.  I was over at Bella’s and clicked on a link about “enhancing” kids photos–sickening by the way.  You should go read it and follow the links.  In any case, that took me to another website where I found this YouTube video and I just had to share it.

I guess it brings out my mama instincts, because I am convinced (don’t anybody dare try to tell me otherwise) that it’s a mama and a baby in the video.
