Sheets…sheesh! August 2, 2008

I just saw 800 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets on a discounter’s website.

At what point does it stop being a sheet and become a tarp?

at 1001 TC? I don’t know what we use down here, but I read up on the details before, some of them are just half the actual TC because the thread has been plied. I’d rather test out the sheet by buying a pillow cover of the same material before splurging on the big sheets.

Isn’t it the higher the thread count, the nicer the fabric?

(…don’t think I’ve ever had a thread count higher than 300 or 400…)

The higer the thread count the better quality of the fabric. It’s more durable and less likely to pill up.Oddly enough they are also cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Every sleep on sheets that felt like you had sand in bed with you? That is the lower thread count. I personally prefer 400 or higher, and boy do you pay for it too. But they seem to last for years.

Weng- 1001?!?! I’m with you on trying it out. I mean at what point are you just sliding off the bed because they are like glass?

Stacy- I don’t know man. Give me the wrinkle free… what were those called? Dang! Now I can’t remember. I just remember that they used to pill up so bad and you could get them for like ten twin sets for a dollar. When they were good and worn it was like sleeping on a bed of sand. Or else you let Brad Pitt eat cookies in your bed. Too bad it wasn’t the latter. Oh man…I must have subconsciously seen Carla’s reference to sand in the bed. Here I thought I was being so clever.

Carla-If this is my smart ass sister, Carla, what? are you a sheet connisseur (damn, I know I spelled that wrong-eh, who cares?). Sheet expert or something? If this isn’t my smart ass sister, Carla, then please disregard my smart ass comeback and forgive my rudeness. Thanks for the comment and the insightful and informative answer.
