What’s in a Middle Name? August 31, 2007

Posted by Mrs Flipphead in memes.
trackback

Apparently, random facts about yourself.  I have been tagged by Sandy of At Your Service.  Let me wax poetic about Sandy’s site for a moment.  I can only venture on her blog if I have a ton of time on my hands.  I get sucked in completely and spend way more time than I have usually, catching up on all the things I need to know.  So be forewarned.

BTW, is your middle name really Dee, Sandy?  I think you made that up to make it easy.  I’m thinking of changing my middle name to a symbol, like Prince, the artist formerly known as.

So here goes.  If you are familiar with memes, then you pretty much know how this works.  So here are THE RULES:

The Rules:1) You have to post the rules before you give the facts.2) Players must list one fact that is relevant to your life for each letter in your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name then use a name that you like.3) When you are tagged, you must write a post containing your own middle name game facts.4) At the end of your post, you must tag one person for each letter in your middle name. Don’t forget to comment them telling that they are tagged and to read your post to get the rules.

N-Nic is my nickname.  My best friend is the only one who calls me that.  She came up with it one time when I told her that I had never had a nickname to speak of (my sister, Carla, called me Hessy for a while, but my mom said it sounded to much like “Hussy” and made her stop).  Laura told me she would give me a nickname and would never call me anything else again.  I called her bluff and I’ll be danged!  She never has called me anything else since that day.  She even addresses her emails to me that way. (I don’t think I ever told you, Laura, how impressed I was with that).

I-Indian (well, Native American really).  My great grandmother on my father’s side was Chickasaw. Irish. Got that on both sides.  Grandma was a Riordian.  I am also a Swede, English, Scottish and a little Spanish, I’m told.

C-Children.  My children are my life.  They try my patience, irritate me, exhaust me, frustrate me and jump on my last nerve.  But there isn’t any greater joy than the bliss I feel when I come home to shrieks of delight and tiny little arms begging to be picked up and snuggled.  They “complete me”.  I can’t imagine life without them.

O-Open.  My life is pretty much an open book.  My sweetie hates this about me.

L-Love.  My husband is the love of my life.  He frequently doubts this, I think.  But there simply never was anyone else after him, no one that really mattered in the same way anyway.  We dated briefly in high school and then stayed friends after he devastated me by breaking up with me.  He says he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me then, but knew I was going off to college and feared it would end badly and he would lose me forever.  So he broke it off in the hopes we could stay friends until the time was right.  I guess his gamble paid off.  It truly just keeps getting better.  Oh sure, 90% of the time it sucks.  You know, bills, work, laundry, diapers, dishes….  But that other 10%….makes it all worth while.  (I know–gag, right?)

E-Energy. Something I wish I had a whole lot more of these days.

Tag list to follow tomorrow.  I’m running a fever and need to get to bed.  Toodles!

I am tagging the following for this meme:

Bella’s Chitta Chatta

Dorannes

Georgian Blues

Internet Safety Advisor

Kissing the Dogwood

Musings of a Chick

My Life is Murphey’s Law

Weng Online

Xigre.com

The blogs in my blogroll are all really good reads.  I don’t put blogs in there that I don’t read as much as I can and I don’t usually tell people when I have added them.  If they see that they are there and want to put me in theirs–that’s really nice, but that’s not why I link to the blogs that are there.  Just thought I would share.

The “L” statement in Nicole is sweet! I had to LOL at the 90% thing. It’s hard but the +’s way out-do the -’s :)

Thanks so much, Mrs. Flipphead, for thinking of me!!! This one is pretty neat!

I hope you have wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Thanks for participating. Yes, my middle name is Dee. Sandra Dee. It was my older sister’s idea.

I’m glad you enjoy my site. I really like yours too.

As a matter of fact, you’ve been given an award. Stop by and check it out. You deserve it. :-)

Thanks Sandy! Sandra Dee {snicker}. Do you hate your sister? Just kidding! This was harder than I thought it would be. I envy you such a short middle name right now! I’ll stop on by. Thanks!

Okay, you’re freaking me out. {heh} I used to say ‘Toodles’ every time I finished a post. I did so with a certain purpose in mind though. I wanted to see how long it would take before someone said something about it. I just knew it would be someone with no sense of humor whatsoever, and it turns out that I was right. She called me all sorts of names, attempting to belittle, but I wiped the floor with her. Anyway, long story there.

Also, what you said about how you add to your blogroll. I do the same thing. I just add what I like and if they notice and wish to reciprocate, great.

I thought about making a short post one day asking what the proper blogroll etiquette was. But then I thought, ‘Screw it, it’s my blog. I’ll do what I want’.

Now, before I forget why I’m here {chuckle} …I wanted to let you know that I’ll post my ‘Name’ meme sometime tomorrow.

I enjoyed reading yours. Got a good laugh out of the 90% bit too. You know, my daughter’s middle name is Nichole (I spelled it with an ‘H’). Her first name, and you know, is Miranda. But my favorite nickname for her has always been ‘Randy Nic’. She used to like it, but now she prefers to be called Mandy.

My 3 year old niece calls her ‘Beans’ though. She’s a weird little munchkin.

I’m rambling, huh? Can you tell that I’ve missed you? {grin}

Hey, I’m English and Scottish and Irish too. Don’t have any Indian heritage though.

Hope you’re feeling better. You can’t get sick, you know. You’re mom.

Okay. Going now. :D

Bah!

Well I left a super-dee-duper comment here and when I hit ’submit’ it didn’t show up. So I hit submit again and it told me that I had made a ‘duplicate’ comment. But still, I don’t see my comment. Whassup?

Eh, I’ll check back in a bit and see if it shows up.

Jacer-How I missed your comment is beyone me. But then I read Stacy’s comment and I’m thinking I may know.

(Shakes fist at the air) “Curse you Askiment spam blocker!!!”

Okay, I just tried to post my first comment again, and ‘POOF!’

Nothing happened.

I’m so gonna look like an idiot when it finally shows up, but it’s three times in a row. Eh, what the heck. Here goes… (3rd times a charm, right?)

Stacy-For Cripes Sakes! Cut it out already! I de-spammed you. Not sure why Askimet spammed it in the first place. I will delete the extraneous comments.

12. ~ Stacy ~ - September 6, 2007

as you know, not ‘and you know’

Hey, that 3rd times a charm thing really works. (grin) I know what the hang-up was though. Your comment box doesn’t like these thingys — > {

So I changed them all to parenthesis ( ) and all was well with the blogosphere.

(yawn)

G’night.
