So many dishes, so little time… August 11, 2007

The highlight of my week? When I caught my younger son “washing” my clean tupperware in the dog’s water bowl (we were watching my mom’s dog while she was in the hospital).
Now I remember why we didn’t get a new dog after Tundra died.
My youngest is such a big helper. He loves to help me put the laundry away. Too bad he just randomly takes clothes from the basket (his or his brother’s–doesn’t matter) and jams them into the one drawer that is easiest for him to reach and open–always the middle, right hand drawer of his brother’s dresser.
Unfortunately, his laundry “help” also extends to pulling dirty clothes out of the hampers and putting them in this same drawer. I have actually put clothes on his brother before I realized they were dirty (the clothes in that drawer are always wrinkled and unfolded due to my extra “help” you see).
My tiny boy especially loves to help in the kitchen. He takes out the broom and “sweeps” the floor (my broom will never be the same) and he also likes scrubbing the floor with the dry sponge mop, or a crumpled paper towel…or his brother’s dirty underwear–you know–whatever’s handy!
His absolute favorite activity is emptying the dishwasher. He brings me each individual piece…one…at…a…time.
I truly hope this spirit of cleanliness continues long enough for him to still be doing it when he’s old enough to be more helper than hinderer.
Hey…a girl can dream…right?

Awwww, what a sweetheart
Gotta love that kind of special help….
I’m lucky, my son loves to clean. He’s 10 and he actually does help quite a bit. It’s funny because my three daughters definitely didn’t, and still don’t, like to clean.
I take that back. My middle daughter is a clean freak now, but she sure wasn’t when she lived at home!

Bella-I know…isn’t it sweet?
Sandy- I hope it lasts that long. My older son thinks it’s a federal crime if I ask him to pick up toys.
